Abstract
This Study evaluated the results of surgery for patients with tibial plafond fractures. Subjects consisted of 18 men with an average age of 45 years who were followed-up for 6 months to two years 7 months (mean, 1 year 4 months). We classified these fractures according to the AO system. Postoperative results were evaluated using R. Gay & Evrard's criteria for function and Burwell's radiographic criteria. Results evaluated almost all patients as satisfactory.Treatment generally comprised internal fixation following the principles of the AO group. Occasionally the Ilizarov external fixator was useful for treating type C3 fractures.
