Abstract
Primary care providers are the first point of contact for many patients seeking non-urgent medical care. The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the move towards digital-first primary care consultations. Thus, implementing effective technology is critical in supporting and sustaining this change. This chapter explores how AI is changing primary care provision, enhancing preventative medicine, and streamlining medical triage. Opportunities for future AI applications in these areas are discussed, as well as the challenges and risks that accompany both current and future technologies.
