Abstract
In this chapter, we provide a broad overview of AI in surgery, with an emphasis on practical examples. Our goal is to provide a balanced perspective on surgical AI, highlighting current applications, prospects, and challenges. While we do not expect AI technologies to take over the surgeon's job just yet, we provide empirical use cases in this chapter that show how AI can be used to augment surgical practice in multiple settings.
