Understanding the Role of AI Chatbots in Education: A Cross-Context Analysis of Awareness, Trust, and Implementation

Abstract
This article examines the role of AI chatbots in education through a comparative analysis of awareness, trust, and attitudes toward these technologies across diverse educational contexts, including both school and university environments. Based on international studies and an original dataset of more than 200 respondents from Bulgaria, the study explores the usability and perception of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathbf{A I}$</tex> in the educational process. Findings reveal that although awareness and acceptance of AI chatbots are steadily increasing, concerns remain regarding the reliability of the information they produce. By applying statistical and mathematical methods using Python, the research identifies key trends and factors influencing the readiness to integrate AI chatbots in educational and administrative contexts. The findings indicate that a significant majority of teachers and school leaders are already familiar with and actively using AI tools.
