Abstract
The Reality of the hybrid workplace has created a new paradigm for leadership that requires innovative solutions to drive productivity, engagement, and operational efficiency across dispersed teams. But the use of AI in HR is not without major ethical questions. This chapter contributes to the ongoing research by critically analysing the ethics of one aspect of these technologies: algorithmic bias and employee privacy. It also discusses how historical data bias might contribute to unfair hiring, promotion, and performance evaluations resulting in reinforcing systemic biases. And we talk about the thin line between using data for organizational intelligence and creating an atmosphere of surveillance that erodes trust and morale. Finally, we posit that the responsible use of AI in hybrid work will involve a delicate balancing act between fairness, appropriate ethical governance and employees' fundamental rights to ensure that technology serves to augment rather than diminish the modern workforce.
