EMERGING RISKS: THE IMPACT OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE ON THE HEALTH AND ATTITUDE TOWARDS WORK OF QUALIFIED WORKERS

Abstract

Objective. To investigate the opinion of Lithuanian employees about the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into the work environment and to evaluate their subjective well-being, motivation, and concentration while working with AI.Materials and Methods. A cross-sectional study was conducted using an anonymous electronic questionnaire survey. The study, which took place in February-March 2024, involved 70 Lithuanian employees who use AI technologies in their work. The research instrument was an original 20-item questionnaire developed based on scientific literature. Descriptive statistics, chi-square (χ²) test, and Fisher's exact test were used for data analysis.Results. The study revealed that the majority (92.9 %) of respondents have a positive view of AI, stating that it has made their work easier. Nearly half of the respondents experienced an increase in motivation (48.6 %) and concentration (50 %). Most employees did not feel increased stress (85.7 %) or fear of losing their job (91.4 %). However, more than a third (35.7 %) noticed a decrease in communication with colleagues.Conclusions. Qualified Lithuanian employees currently have a positive assessment of AI's impact on their work and do not feel a significant negative effect on their mental health. However, the observed risk of social isolation indicates that as AI integration increases, it is necessary to monitor and manage psychosocial factors.
