Abstract
Objective: Assess the use of artificial intelligence in improving the accuracy of detecting malignant skin lesions when used in addition to the provider’s judgment. Design: Literature review. Methods: Searches were done in PubMed utilizing the terms “artificial intelligence” and “skin lesions”. The following limits were used: clinical trials and English. Results: Three studies met the inclusion/exclusion criteria: Han et al, Papachristou et al, and Menzies et al. Conclusion: AI-assistance tools can aid primary care provider’s diagnostic accuracy in detecting malignant skin lesions, which would effectively decrease morbidity, mortality, and unnecessary referrals to specialists.
