Abstract
Digital health is rapidly transforming cardiovascular medicine, offering new tools to address the growing burden of cardiovascular disease, the leading global cause of mortality. This review explores how emerging digital technologies, including electronic medical records (EMRs), telemedicine, mobile health, wearable sensors, and artificial intelligence (AI), are being integrated into cardiovascular care. These innovations enhance diagnostic accuracy, and care pathways, and empower both physicians and patients. EMRs enable centralized and secure access to clinical data, improving care coordination, while tele-cardiology expands access to specialized care through virtual consultations and remote monitoring. AI is increasingly applied in imaging, electrocardiogram analysis, and data interpretation from wearable devices, supporting personalized diagnostics and treatment planning. Digital tools also play a crucial role in improving patient adherence, communication, and engagement in chronic disease management. In an era marked by expanding clinical data, evolving technologies, and the need for efficient resource utilization, digital health represents a critical strategy for optimizing outcomes in cardiovascular medicine. This review highlights key applications of digital health across interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, cardiovascular imaging, heart failure, and cardiology nursing, while underscoring the importance of physician engagement in the development and adoption of these tools to ensure their effective implementation in everyday practice.
