Abstract

Introduction: The integration of advanced technologies like AI, 3D printing, teledentistry, AR, and VR has transformed Oral Medicine and Radiology, enhancing diagnostics, treatment planning, and patient care. Traditional methods are now supported by digital tools that improve precision and accessibility. These innovations enable early disease detection, personalized treatment, and immersive learning. This article highlights their collective impact on modern dental practice.Aim and Objective: To explore how technological advancements, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), 3D printing, and teledentistry, are transformed dental sciences by enhancing diagnostics, treatment planning, and clinical practice. It further examines the role of Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) in improving diagnostic accuracy, treatment precision, and patient education, while also connecting conventional dental practices with cutting-edge innovations and influencing professional roles and education.Methodology: An electronic research was conducted using Pub Med database, focusing on peer reviewed articles up to March 2025 using keywords “Artificial intelligence”, “3D printing”, “Teledentistry”, “Virtual reality”, “Augmented reality” resulting in 31,854, 5,126, 125 and 912 items respectively. After a thorough review, relevant data from other electronic sources were also included for additional information. Results: AI enhanced early diagnosis of oral diseases and optimized treatment planning. 3D printing enabled accurate anatomical models from CT/MRI data for surgical planning and education. Teledentistry improved remote diagnosis of mucosal conditions. AR/VR technologies elevated radiographic interpretation, surgical precision, and dental education. Conclusion: Together, these tools are redefining dentistry by enabling efficient, patient-centred, and highly accurate treatment paradigms. Their integration heralds a future where digital innovation is central to clinical excellence and accessibility.
