Evolution, Hotspots, and Future Trends: A Systematic Analysis of the “AI + Writing” Research Field Based on Knowledge Graph

Abstract
Through a bibliometric and knowledge mapping analysis of 1,349 SSCI-indexed articles from the Web of Science Core Collection, this study reveals that the publication output in the “AI+Writing” field has undergone four distinct developmental phases: the embryonic stage, the slow accumulation stage, the rapid growth stage, and the explosive growth stage. The research identifies four core themes within the domain: automated writing evaluation, intelligent writing assistance, generative content creation, and academic integrity governance. These themes collectively constitute a value chain characterized by “empowerment-enhancement-reconstruction-governance.” Current research is intensively focused on human-AI collaborative writing and the restructuring of academic integrity systems.
